The IAI has undertaken this study to look at sector employment and economic contribution.
This report aims to better understand the economic contribution of the aluminium industry by collating existing information relating to direct and indirect jobs globally. Employment numbers for upstream (mining, refining & smelting), downstream and indirect employment have been collated.
The report shows that, based on previous studies from Australia, Brazil, India and UAE that recorded a multiplier effect, for every direct job in the industry, 3.7 indirect jobs are created.
This study also identifies where employment data gaps exist and is structured to accommodate data changes which will be updated when more accurate employment numbers become available.
