Specifiers’ Guide To IAI’s Carbon Footprint Methodology

The International Aluminium Institute (IAI) has published Specifiers’ Guide To IAI’s Carbon Footprint Methodology. The guide is to ensure that declared carbon footprints reflect a ‘real’ and comprehensive footprint of products.

In 2021, The International Aluminium Institute (IAI) published Aluminium Carbon Footprint Methodology: Good Practice for Calculation of Primary Aluminium and Precursor Product Carbon Footprints, (now IAI’s Carbon Footprint Methodology), a sector-specific guidance on a recommended method for calculating product carbon footprint.

This methodology is referenced by Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) and London Metal Exchange (LME) for the calculation of carbon footprint of aluminium.
