The Institute’s Life Cycle work initiated in 1998, periodically publishing all significant life cycle inventory (LCI) data from primary aluminium production processes, from the mining of bauxite ore to ingot manufacture, including raw material inputs, energy use, emissions to air and water and solid waste generation. A correspondence cradle-to-gate impact assessment evaluates the potential environmental impacts of primary aluminium ingot production.
